Wesley Sander

Wesley Sander has spent most of his life around farming. Growing up, Wesley helped his family raise chickens, cows and pigs on a small acreage in northern California, USA. He earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism, with background study in biology, from Humboldt State University before spending the next decade writing for various publications on several subject areas, foremost among them agriculture. He reported on all aspects of the industry, including legislative and regulatory processes in the state Capitol; litigation over federal approval of genetically modified crops; conservation practices, scientific advances and field trials; and the policymaking surrounding labor, immigration, international trade and water rights. Wesley left journalism to spend the next decade managing a small farm in the Sierra Nevada foothills, where he began implementing Soil Foodweb techniques to great success. He now serves clients through his consultancy, Foothill Biological Soil Health Services, and since June 2020 has served as an Advanced Programs mentor at the Soil Food Web School.
