Nick Padwick

Nick, a Hampshire farm native, has become a prominent figure in sustainable agriculture. His early education at Sparsholt Agricultural College laid the groundwork for a career of innovation and excellence. Beginning with management roles in the Co-operative farms group, Nick quickly established a reputation for transformative agricultural practices.

In Leicestershire, Nick and his wife launched the award-winning Farm to Fork project, earning them the Unilever Social Intervention Award and underscoring Nick’s dedication to sustainable agriculture. This project cemented his status as a leader committed to responsible farming practices.

In 2009, Nick’s contributions to the field were recognized with Farmer’s Weekly’s Farm Manager and Farmer of the Year awards. He then moved to the South Pickenham Estate, where he managed 10,000 acres across multiple countries, showcasing his expertise in international agriculture.

In 2018, Nick took on the management of Ken Hill Estate, home to the nationally recognized Wild Ken Hill nature restoration and regenerative farming project. His leadership has transformed Ken Hill into a model of biodiversity and sustainable agriculture.

Through Peddar Farming, Nick oversees over 5,000 acres in West Norfolk, implementing practices that enhance soil health and support wildlife conservation. A graduate of the Soil Food Web and a Soil Laboratory Technician, Nick is on track to become one of the first Soil Food Web consultants in the UK.

Nick’s work has not only advanced countryside stewardship but has also set an example for farmers nationwide, demonstrating how stewardship schemes can be tailored to maximize productivity and environmental benefits. His career is a testament to visionary leadership in British farming, setting new standards for agricultural and environmental excellence.
