In 2019, the Soil Food Web brought its hands-on biological training to Brazil, engaging local farmers, agronomists, and land stewards in the principles of living soil science. Designed to bridge Dr. Elaine Ingham’s Soil Food Web methodology with South American agriculture, this practical workshop focused on restoring soil biology to reduce chemical dependencies and improve soil structure. Participants gained direct experience in feedstock selection, thermophilic composting under tropical and sub-tropical conditions, brewing biological liquid inoculants (compost teas and extracts), and performing live optical microscopy to identify beneficial soil microfauna.
